As CEO of Union, KY – based The Beef Connection LLC, Bob Sand’s vision is to be a service organization that enables both beef cattle producers and carefully selected industry suppliers to prosper and be more sustainable.

Bob grew up working on two farms owned by his grandfathers. One was a dairy farm and the other a fruit and vegetable operation. After high school, he studied applied electronics and joined Marposs Gauges, a leader in the in the precision measurement (metrology) field. In 1983 Bob joined Nelson Precision, Inc. and grew that company into one of the Midwest’s premier suppliers of precision gauges. He bought the company in 1989 and grew the business by forming key strategic relationships both nationally and internationally. Bob sold Nelson Precision, Inc to Mitutoyo America Corporation in 2000, and in 2001 he purchased several tracts of land to establish Mulberry Meadows Farm, an Angus cow/calf operation.

By experimenting with select seed stock, balanced nutrition and natural supplements, plus applying his knowledge of data collection and analysis to improve the cattle production process, Bob developed the basis of The Beef Connection System. In the succeeding years he has refined the process and developed new marketing strategies that enable The Beef Connection cattle producer members to dramatically improve their return on investment.
